Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Simply Bass Productions ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use this website, create an account, purchase, and activate the BassMuse software (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you register, we collect your email address, an optional name, and a securely hashed version of your password (we never store your password in plain text).
Purchase information
Payments are processed by our reseller, Paddle, who acts as the Merchant of Record. We do not collect or store your full payment card details. We retain a record of your orders (product, amount, currency, date, and a Paddle order reference) to provide purchase history and support.
License & activation information
To operate licensing we store your activation code(s), and for each activated machine a salted hash of a device identifier (not the raw identifier), a machine label you provide, operating system, and activation timestamps. The device hash lets us enforce the per-license machine limit and lets you manage your machines; it is not used to track you across the web.
Technical & log data
Our servers log standard technical data such as IP address, request timestamps, and error information for security, abuse prevention, and diagnostics.
2. How we use your information
- Create and secure your account and authenticate you.
- Process purchases and deliver activation codes by email.
- Operate licensing: activate and validate the software and enforce the machine limit you can manage.
- Provide customer support.
- Protect the Services against fraud, abuse, and security threats.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Legal bases (EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (accounts, purchases, licensing), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, product improvement), consent (optional marketing emails, if any), and legal obligation (tax and record-keeping, largely handled by Paddle as Merchant of Record).
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the Services:
- Paddle — payment processing and tax as Merchant of Record.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting, database, and email delivery (Amazon SES).
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.
5. Cookies
We use only essential cookies necessary to keep you signed in and to secure the site. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Paddle may set cookies within its checkout, subject to Paddle's own policy.
6. Data retention
We keep account, purchase, and license records for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, support, and to meet legal and tax obligations. You may request deletion as described below; some records may be retained where required by law.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location (including under the GDPR and California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to opt out of marketing. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any right, email support@simplybassproductions.com; we will respond within the time required by applicable law.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), encryption at rest for our database, hashed passwords, and least-privilege access. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
9. International transfers
We are based in the United States and process data there. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate.
10. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
